The Story Behind the Designs

A little over 18 months ago, my wife and I made the decision to finally, officially launch the brand Glove Off Golf.
We spent countless evenings tossing around design ideas. I was sketching obsessively while she gave honest (and usually spot-on) feedback. As you might expect, there were a few misses… a couple slices… maybe even a duck hook or two.
At the time, I was fixated on block letter styles and acronyms. Let’s just say not all of them were winners.
Then came the breakthrough.........
My wife came up with the idea of “GO” - short for Glove Off - as the main logo. The moment she said it, we both saw the vision.
GO golf, Glove Off Golf, a simple design with a dual meaning:
Take your glove off. Go play golf.
It was clean, clever, and full of energy, and it became the design for our first product.
Collaborating with Creative Partners
As we got rolling, we brought on two amazing creative partners:
With their help, we finalized the GO Golf design and started developing two additional logos to launch with.
Side note: We always planned to launch with three logos.
Why? Because Glove Off was born on a par 3 hole. Our design “math” will always tie back to golf themes.
A Happy Accident: The Single-Line Design
One of our favorite designs, the single-line “Glove Off” on the front right panel, actually started as a happy accident.
We had asked for something minimal and clean, two of our core design principles. One of the Alyssas from Firecracker sent over a mockup with “Glove Off” in two lines on the front right.
I loved it the second I saw it, with one small tweak: both words on the same line.
That edit turned it into the sleek, understated look we were aiming for.
The Birdie Hat (Inspired on a Boat in Croatia)
The third design took a little longer to figure out.
It finally hit me during a boat trip in Croatia:
A two-line “Glove Off” design paired with a circled number, just like how you’d mark a birdie on a scorecard.
We called it the Birdie Hat, and since the brand started on a par 3 hole, the first version had a circled 2. It just felt right.
